
John Rownan is a tenor from Dublin who studied singing in Bucharest, where he also performed at events for the Irish Embassy of Romania in 2014 and 2015. John then took further training at the Greek Opera Studio performing in roles such as Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) and Flavio (Norma). John performed the role of Luigi in Puccini's Il Tabarro at the Greek Opera Festival in 2016, followed by roles including Basilio (The Marriage of Figaro) and Spoletta (Tosca) with the Hellenic Opera Co in Thessaloniki. John also understudied the roles of Cavaradossi in Tosca and Rodolfo in La Boheme, as well as participating in several opera studios where he learned roles such as Idomeneo, Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), and Don Jose in Carmen among others.
Following a pause and career pivot during covid, John returned to perform in Germany and The Netherlands in 2022 for Opera Classica Europa in roles including Gaston in La Traviata, Cascada in The Merry Widow, and Normanno in Lucia di Lammermoor.
In 2023, John launched Bella Musica Ireland, where he began to organise small recitals and events.
