
Joining Bella Musica for the concert on Saturday 6th May is Iris-Fiona Nikolaou, an award-winning Greek mezzo-soprano now based in Ireland, where she works with companies such as the Irish National Opera, Northern Ireland Opera, and as a soloist at the Goethe Choir.
Originally from Athens, Iris worked at the Greek National Opera from 2015-19, in operas such as Carmen, Nabucco and Aida, as well as appearing in concerts on national Greek television. She has a wide repertoire of roles in operas, oratorios & various choral works.
In 2019, Iris moved to Cork where she completed a second Masters (in Performance), and in 2020 she won several prizes at The Feis Maitiu Corcaigh, including “The J.T. Horne Memorial Perpetual Trophy”, “The Lieder Perpetual Prize & Doyle Bursary” and “The Margaret Dillon Memorial Perpetual Trophy”.
Iris also plays the piano, the bassoon and teaches modern & classical singing in Dublin.
